Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica: 70th Birthday and 20th Anniversary Tour
Reasons to celebrate abound, as Gidon Kremer has recently turned 70 and the Kremerata Baltica is celebrating its 20th anniversary this season. A major tour with the legendary violinist and his orchestra is currently underway through Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands: the 13 concerts feature eclectic programmes distinctive of Gidon Kremer’s unmistakable style. The celebrants appear in concert with artists closely linked to the Kremerata Baltica, and let their audience partake in the joy of making music together: authentic and excellent, lively and challenging just as on the day of the foundation of the Kremerata Baltica 20 years ago.
The grande dame among pianists, Martha Argerich, enjoys a long-standing friendship with the Kremerata Baltica and was eager to join this “family reunion”. She appears in duo with Gidon Kremer as well as with the orchestra. Lucas Debargue, Khatia Buniatishvili, Pablo Ferrandez and Clara-Jumi Kang represent a vibrant and no less glamorous future of the orchestra. These stellar representatives of the younger generation of artists have been invited to appear as first among equals together with the Kremerata Baltica.
