Rudolf Buchbinder and the Vienna Philharmonic have been working together for many years. Out of this cooperation, a new album has been released around his 70th birthday, a live concert recording from the Musikverein Vienna, with both piano concertos of Brahms, conducted by Zubin Metha. In 2016 the orchestra also named him an Honorary Member.
Gramophone reviews the CD: “There are few pianists who can command these pieces technically as completely as he does.”
As part of their Carnegie Hall Live series, New York Public radio WQXR will broadcast the concert live. You can find more information about the live broadcast and access the recording on demand after the concert here: http://www.wqxr.org/#!/story/vienna-philharmonic-orchestra-plays-brahms-schubert-bartok-carnegie-hall/.
